Painting with Paper, Layered Paper Painting

Watsonart is the art of Lois Watson.  Lois's technique for painting involves no paint.  Rather, various handmade and specialty art papers are utilized in a unique process of tearing, cutting and layering the papers to create a "painting".  She creates some of her own marbled papers specifically for use in her art and has been collecting handmade papers for more than 30 years which are also used in her art.  Click on the Gallery button to see some examples of her layered paper paintings. Her paintings are created with the hope that they will bring joy and a sense of wonder, both in the subject and in the medium itself. 

Where Art meets Architecture

Watson Illustrating, specializing in architectural renderings since 1995. Based out of her Wilmington, NC studio, architectural renderer Lois Watson depicts houses and projects for builders, architects and designers. She has been published in Southern Living Magazine and Southern Living House Plans among other publications. Her renderings appear in projects nationwide.
Her uniquely styled renderings are all hand done and one-of-a kind. Her work is architecturally accurate and can be produced from plans or photos.
